On Thursday, July
22nd, at 7 o'clock p.m. Public Lunar Observing at UGa-Griffin. The Public Observing will the the second in a series of monthly lunar observings at the school. We'll show visitors lunar features such as: the terminator; craters; mountains and mountain ranges; oceans and "seas" (maria); and the site where the Apollo 11 Eagle landed in July, 1969, and man first set foot on the Moon. We'll also show whatever planets are up -- and maybe some deep-sky objects. The observing site will be the parking lot by the Stuckey Building where we conduct our meetings. We'll set up our binoculars and telescopes on the lawn in front of the parking area. The observing will begin at 7 p.m. I hope that you'll plan to attend, whether to show our visitors the Moon, up close and personal; to learn more about the Moon and the many features that make it such a fascinating place; to begin working on your Lunar Club certificate and pin; or simply to enjoy the fellowship of your friends in FRAC.
